After the heaviest snow fall for years, people started coming out to see how things looked in Axminster.

With the weather warning levels being reduced, so the worst of the storm is over.

And on the day after, residents returned to the streets to see the effect.

Not only was there snow on the ground, but the overnight icy rain caused a lot of ice to form on the top of it.

So with an added crunch, people walked around the streets.

Although a number of businesses continued to be closed, many of the food shops were open for people to buy urgent provisions, as well as other key service providers, such as pharmacies.

With vulnerable people still in need of help, care company staff were doing what they could to get to their clients, with some engaging four by four vehicle drivers to get them to their appointments.

Although a thaw is expected next week, conditions will remain difficult until much of the snow and ice has gone.
