Axminster’s self-funding tourist information centre raised £500 at a sell-out Italian evening at the Tuckers Arms, Dalwood.
New chairman Joy Raymond praised TIC manager Jill Ruddick and assistant Anne Seward who sold all the tickets.
The highlight of the evening was a performance by All Saints’ tenor Steve Holt, singing a fine selection of Italian favourites.
He opened with “Figaro” and gave a pitch-perfect rendition of “Ave Maria” holding the packed room spellbound. The audience then joined in, with words provided, in a rousing chorus of the Italian National Anthem.

Joy added: “We are always happy to welcome volunteers to help us with fundraising - nothing onerous. There is a selection of activities with which we would be pleased to have assistance.”
