An Axminster woman has died following a road traffic collision near Sidbury on Monday.

Emergency services including paramedics, police and the air ambulance were called to the scene, near the Hare and Hounds and Farway, at around 9.30am following reports of a collision between a bus and a car.

A police spokesman said: “It is believed that a passenger of the Ford Ka, a woman in her 80s, had suffered a medical episode and died at the scene. The woman’s next of kin have been informed.

“The male driver was taken to RD&E as a precaution for a head injury.”

Diversions were in place around Farway Castle, Runcombe Corner and Chelston Corner as the road to the Hare and Hounds remained closed until the afternoon.
