Much loved family pet wins top honours at the feline world’s equivalent to Crufts

An imperial grand champion cat - named after an Indian curry - took away another top award for its proud Axmouth owner at the feline equivalent of Crufts.

Seven-year-old Balti won the Imperial Grand Champion and Imperial Grand Premier class and was best of breed at The Supreme Cat Show at the NEC in Birmingham. She now holds the title Imperial Grand Champion and Imperial Grand Premier Wellmar Balti.

Owner Patricia Absalom was thrilled at Balti’s performance.Balti is a brown spotted British shorthair. She and her brother, Rogan Josh, continued their father Vindaloo’s tradition of being named after curries.

Mrs Absalom, who lives in Stepps Lane, said she named them after Indian-inspired dishes because they were brown – and ‘very spicey’!
