Community groups are presented with cheques for 250
Axmouth got a little help from Tesco this week - with cash awards for two community organisations
Members of the ACT TWO Children’s Theatre Group and the committee which runs the village hall were presented with cheques for 250 by service manager, Jackie Gay.
The drama group meets each Tuesday evening, giving young people aged from five to 15 the opportunity to enjoy all aspects of theatre, including acting and the production of shows, which raise money for local charities.
The village hall also provides a base for a large number of other groups, including the WI and the bowling club, and is also home to social functions, bringing the whole community together.
Malcolm Henty, who is involved in both the theatre group and the general running of the village hall said: “Both donations will help the local Axmouth community. The money being given to the children’s theatre group will help us to put on productions, enabling more money raised from the performances going to local charities.
“The Village Hall is used by everyone in the Axmouth community and the donation will help with the general running costs and benefit everyone who uses it.”
The cheque presentations were the latest in a number of donations from the Tesco store, on Harbour Road, in Seaton where the staff and management chose the charities after hearing about all the hard work put in by those who run them.
