Last Saturday, August 30, I had the privilege to witness the Seaton Carnival. May I take the opportunity to congratulate the carnival committee on a very successful and entertaining evening, and I do hope that they collected a record sum for charity. As an ex-mayor of the City of Bangor (2006/07), I have been fortunate to organise a multicultural festival, there being 76 nationalities in Bangor, North Wales, plus a visit from 600 Americans from Bangor, Pensylvannia, who are the direct descendents of the quarrymen from this area of Wales. In addition, I have managed to start a horticultural and craft show, which has just completed its second year and getting bigger and better each time. I have always wanted to start up a carnival in Bangor and, at first, I thought that I would have a Nottinghill-type event. Howwever, after seeing your carnival, I would like to follow on the same lines, knowing that it is going to start from small beginings and hopefully improve. Cllr Douglas Madge Trem Elidir Bangor
