POLICE will be taking to the streets this bank holiday weekend in a bid to deal with drink-related behaviour.
Devon and Cornwall Police will be stepping up patrols as the good weather often brings with it an increase in drink-related antisocial behaviour and violence.
Sergeant Graeme Johnston said: “We want everyone to enjoy themselves – responsibly and safely.
“Alcohol can dramatically change someone’s behaviour which can often result in them doing something they may not do whilst sober.
“We want people to remember that one drink too many could change their night and the repercussions of their actions could lead them to a criminal record.”
It has also issued tips to stay safe and have fun this weekend:
• Don’t try to keep up with friends who drink more
• Walk away from trouble
• Eat before you go out
• Regularly drink water during the evening
