Barn fire destroys 20 tonnes of straw

FIRE appliances from Axminster, Honiton and Sidmouth attended a barn fire at Stockland last Friday afternoon.

FIRE appliances from Axminster, Honiton and Sidmouth attended a barn fire at Stockland last Friday afternoon.The barn, at Farm Hill Road, was reported to be well alight when firefighters arrived on the scene shortly after 3.15pm.The barn contained around 20 tonnes of straw.Crews used two main jets and breathing apparatus, as well as a light portably pump, to put out the fire.A mechanical diggers was used to remove the straw.
