A BEACH hut in Lyme Regis was severely damaged and later demolished following recent storms.

The roof was blown off the property in Monmouth beach and many items were discovered missing.

Police believe some items were taken, including a white Calor gas oven and a Webber gas barbecue.

PCSO John Burton said: "It is likely, due to the extensive damage caused, that somebody thought they were rescuing these items from a demolished hut that was facing removal.

"These items were salvageable and the owner would like them back."

The beach hut was removed by the town council.
