What an Easter weekend it was for the Baptist congregation that met – full of life and celebration – at The Beacon in Kilmington, near Axminster.
The events began on the Saturday when an Easter trail was laid on, taking children and their families around a story trail in the village, with a free egg at the end for those who solved the puzzle. A total of 59 children took part and even more family members accompanied them.
A sunny and warm Easter Day saw more than 100 people either on chairs or in their cars enjoying the service, which was led by associate pastor Mike Hudson, and singing could be heard across the village.
The children had activities too, painting a huge Easter mural to show the congregation at the end of the service and they also painted some stones that they were able to take home with them afterwards.
The service was also live-streamed as usual and has already been viewed by a huge number of people.
Church pastor Darrell Holmes said: “We calculated that we connected in one way or another with over 500 people in two days.
“We are so grateful for a congregation that is not afraid to take risks and love to dream up ways of engaging the community in various ways. We are a church that is alive, celebrating that Jesus is alive and seeking to be a beacon for Jesus.”
Services returned inside The Beacon on Sunday, April 11 and will continue to do so from now on. Everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy the services.
