Community centre wins a ‘highly commended’ award as part of East Devon District Council’s Chairman’s Jubillee Celebrations.
Honiton’s Beehive community centre has been highly commended at East Devon District Council’s jubilee awards.
Newly-elected Mayor, Councillor David Foster, was presented with a framed certificate and cheque for 50 from the Lord Lieutenant of Devon, Eric Dancer ESQ CBE JP, at the East Devon District Council chamber.
The town council received the awards for its work on future projects as part of the district council’s chairman’s jubilee celebrations.
The entries were judged by a panel external judges who commented on the level of public consultation and community involvement in the scheme.
Cllr Foster said “It was a great honour on my first official engagement for the town council to receive this award, which pays great tribute to all the hard work and dedication that has been put in by town councillors and staff working with the community of Honiton to deliver this much-needed facility for the town.
“The certificate will be displayed with much pride at the town council offices and the cheque will be put towards the fund-raising effort to raise the last part of the monies needed.”
