Honiton Cricket Club has unveiled a new bench in its grounds as a touching tribute to the club’s late Sue Linsdell.

Mrs Linsdell died in hospital in Lisbon on December 19, 2014, after she suffered a brain haemorrhage while on a cruise with her husband Terry, the president of Honiton Cricket Club.

Honiton was a regular stopping-off point for touring sides and Mrs Linsdell could prepare up to 40 teas a season.

Mr Linsdell said: “We wanted something to commemorate Sue’s life as she did so much for the cricket club. I decided that the club would not buy the bench.

“I wanted to buy it myself as she would not have wanted the club to spend a large amount of money on it when there are other important things to buy.”

The bench is placed in Mr and Mrs Linsdell’s favourite spot in the grounds.
