Bests of Honiton was established by Steve Best in August 1969, the year that saw the first man on the moon and Lulu share winning the Eurovision song contest.

Rob Curry worked for Steve for several years before he and his wife, Pauline, purchased the business from Steve in 1989. The business has grown with nine members of staff ready to be of service.

The store, one of the biggest on the High Street, was extended upwards in 2000. It now houses a large range of goods for the home, including carpets, vinyls, beds, mattresses, dining and bedroom furniture, rugs, chairs, recliners and suites, many from leading British manufacturers, who Bests aim to support.

The majority of Bests' work is within a 25 mile radius and as a result of recommendations, however, Bests have supplied goods for Jersey, France, Portugal and Holland.

Being part of one of the largest buying groups allows Bests to offer a great combination: the buying power that allows Bests to price competitively, but with service levels you would expect from an independent retailer.

To mark Bests' 40th anniversary, the company is inviting past and present customers into the store for a celebration drink and nibbles on Wednesday, August 26, from 12pm to 4pm.

In addition, for a two week period commencing Monday, August 17, Bests is giving a 10 per cent discount on carpets, beds, suites, furniture and rugs.
