Popular event celebrates its second birthday in style

Axminster’s second Yarty Party Festival was a sell out success.

All 750 tickets were snapped up prior to the event which welcomed locals and festival goers from as a far afield as Suffolk, Oxford and London.

Held at Axminster Showground by kind permission of L Burrough and family, the festival focused on providing a family friendly, charitable event for all.

The Devon Air Ambulance and Axminster Care Service will benefit from the money raised.

Organisers Kara Burrough and David Moore, with partners Paul and Emma and a loyal army of crew, volunteers and local supporters, were determined to make the event bigger and even better than last year.

In line with this year’s nautical theme, HMS Yarty was decorated by talented graffiti artist Yannis Nicolaou, children played with sand at the Yarty beach and many dressed up as mermaids, sailors, and pirates.

With a focus on children and families, there were lots of fun activities to keep them entertained from DJ workshops, bouncy castles, craft activities, exotic animals as well as BBC entertainer Nutty Noah delivering a fantastic array of magic, music and fun.

Live music and entertainment spanned 13 hours. Headlining the festival was Captain Flatcap while acts throughout the day included the impressive Samantics, The Experimental, Hoarse, Rhythm Transmission, and Pattern Pusher. Urban ID also put on a stellar street dance performance which had crowds gather in awe.

Meanwhile The Dave tent, which regularly tours the festival circuit, including Love Summer in Plymouth, saw various sets from DJ Creature Craig, Gav Quiet, Pragmatik, and first class Ibiza DJ Nick Coles amongst many others.

Stalls included glitter, face paints, handmade creative items and crafts, massage and clothing , along wit food traders.

Axminster Rotary Club helped out on the day, and organisers thanked the Axe Vale Show for its contributions along with the Tuckers Arms Raft Club who donated the bar tent and kids tent free of charge and Safeguard Security who did a fantastic job in keeping the festival site safe.
