Big show of public support as Jean switches on tree lights

THE Mayoress of Honiton, Jean Tratt, accompanied by Deputy Mayor Councillor Vivienne Ash, performed the honours when the town's community Christmas tree was lit up, in between showers, last Friday evening.

THE Mayoress of Honiton, Jean Tratt, accompanied by Deputy Mayor Councillor Vivienne Ash, performed the honours when the town's community Christmas tree was lit up, in between showers, last Friday evening.Town crier Dave Retter led a public countdown to the switch-on and took the opportunity to wish everyone a merry Christmas.The event, organised by Honiton and District Chamber of Commerce and Industry in conjunction with Honiton Town Council and the parish church, followed a well attended carol service, led by team rector the Reverend Sue Roberts and accompanied by Honiton Band.Children from Awlicombe, Littletown and Offwell primary schools supported the event.
