THE new �2million extension at Axminster Hospital has been given the seal of approval by the Bishop of Crediton.

THE new �2million extension at Axminster Hospital has been given the seal of approval by the Bishop of Crediton.The Right Reverend Robert Evens, known as Bishop Bob, said the hospital was a place where love is found as he was being shown around the new development by hospital managers.The hospital, run by Devon Primary Care Trust, is currently undergoing improvement works that will include refurbished wards, an endoscopy unit and a clinical assessment unit.The Bishop praised the generosity of the local community and League of Friends. He said: "This much-loved and expanding hospital is at the heart of our local community at Axminster and, when people are unwell or in pain, they know they can depend on the care and skillful treatment they will receive from those working there."It is a place where love is found and this is given back by the community through the League of Friends who work so hard for the good of the hospital and help patients and staff feel valued and important."Eileen Simmonds, Axminster Hospital's matron, said: "Everyone at the hospital is looking forward to the opening of the new extension."Our League of Friends do so much hard work for the hospital with fund-raising events for new equipment as well as meeting and greeting patients."We are really grateful to them as this new extension will help improve patient care and experience."Phil Taylor, chairman of the Axminster League of Friends and a GP at Axminster Medical Practice, said he was impressed with the new facilities.
