A way to get community projects off the ground.

HAVE you got an idea for a community project in the Blackdown Hills?

If you do, the project could qualify for financial help from the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’s Sustainable Development Fund.

Applications are now invited for the 2011/12 round of grants.

“We’re delighted to be able to offer Sustainable Development Fund grants again this year,” said Linda Bennett, manager of the AONB. “Small amounts of funding can make all the difference in helping local people to get ideas off the ground and make real improvements to their communities and the environment.”

The fund is administered by the AONB team. It awards grants of up to 5,000 to community groups, schools and small businesses for projects which benefit the area.

Projects funded in the past include improvements to village facilities, such as community shops and allotments, green schemes, wildlife surveys, outdoor classrooms, history archives, art events and support for local producers.
