A 20-year vision for the future of Axminster has gone on display and residents and local businesses owners are being asked for their input.Axminster Community Enterprise, a group set up to draw up a long term strategic plan for the town, has identified a list of priorities aimed at making Axminster more vibrant, healthy and sustainable.Nick Cornwell, from ACE, said: "We have had consultations in the past and this is the first time we have set out the draft strategic view. We want to give people a chance to have their say and there are plenty of opportunities for people to comment through our website."He said ACE has concluded that there are six core priorities that would deliver the most significant benefits to the town and surrounding area.Among these priorities is the regeneration of the town centre and a north-south relief road to make the centre more people friendly.ACE also proposes improving existing open spaces, creating footpath and cycle networks and improving riverside access to take advantage of the town's surrounding countryside. The group also lists more housing, saying the town is more than ready for substantial housing expansion, particularly if this is the way to secure the relief road. The plan is on display at www.axminstercommunityenterprise.org.uk and on April 17 from 11am to 1pm ACE members will be in the Guildhall to receive the public's views before they finalise the plan.
