The family of missing Chard man Ian Rowley have been informed

Police searching for missing Chard man Ian Rowley say a body has been found in the River Axe.

No formal identification has been carried out but the 58-year-old’s family have been informed.

The body was discovered this morning (Friday, February 3) at around 9.15am.

A major search was launched close to the Somerset border with Devon and Dorset after Mr Rowley failed to turn of for work yesterday (Thursday, February 2).

His car was found unoccupied in the South Chard area, near to the railway crossing.

Police described Mr Rowley as ‘vulnerable’ and said he might appear ‘confused or depressed’.
