Dead Pit Bull Terrier recovered by yacht club rescue team after youngsters call emergency services.
The body of a dead dog was pulled from the River Axe after rescue services were scrambled on Friday.
Youngsters had called Portland Coastguards to report what they believed was a dog floating in the water close to Axe Bridge, at around 2pm
Concerned that the youngsters would risk their lives and enter the water to investigate, Beer Coastguard officers were immediately dispatched to the scene.
The body of a Pit Bull terrier was recovered with the help from the local yacht club workboat. There was no identification tag on the animal.
