Honiton Town Youth Football Club (HTYFC) has received a welcome boost in funds after the town’s Tesco store put on a charity book sale.

Once the proceeds were totted up, Tesco handed over a £244 cheque to the club.

Dave Haysom, of HTYFC, said: “This money will help towards the many costs in running the club, including winter training sessions on the 4G pitch at Cranbrook and the artificial pitch at Colyton, provision of balls and training equipment.

“We have not increased membership subs for several years now, due to the income from events and sponsorship, so any support is much appreciated to keep subs at a low level for local families.”

The collection was organised by Tesco colleagues Ange Haysom and Julia Giles.

Duncan Sheridan-Shaw, of Honiton Tesco, added: “We are so committed to our community, we would love to hear from more youth groups that could do with our help.

“Please come in store and talk to our new community champion, Vicky Smith.”
