Crews found building well alight as blaze threatened to spread to silage pits on farm
FIREFIGHTERS from Axminster and Colyton are today (Friday) tackling a barn fire at Membury.
Crews arrived at around 2.30 this morning and confirmed the building was well alight.
Firefighters from Chard, a water a carrier from Danes Castle and the incident command unit from Exmouth were also called to the scene.
Compressed air foam was laid and two breathing apparatus were used as the fire in the 25m x 25m barn, spread to silage pits.
By 4am a water relay was established with a water carrier and dam and by 8.30am the incident was being scaled down after good progress.
