Police called after vehicle breaks an axle on dangerous bend during last night’s gales

A COACH with a broken axle blocked the road between Bosshill Cross and Axmouth during last night’s gales (Monday).

Police were called to the incident at around 5pm after the vehicle broke down on a dangerous bend. Powerful recovery trucks were called in and the stricken coach was eventually towed away at around 8.15pm.

Officers from Axminster, called to the scene, said the coach had presented a major hazard to traffic as it was stranded on a fast bend, completely immovable until specialist gear arrived and the weather had been atrocious.
