SEATON Tramway will mark its 40th birthday with a live performance by former Eurovision Song Contest winners.

Brotherhood of Man, 1976 winners with Save Your Kisses for Me, will sing on top of a tram on Saturday, June 5.

The birthday of the late Claude Lane's brainchild will coincide with this year's Eurovision

Seaton Tramway's managing director, Jenny Nunn, said: "We are delighted to be welcoming Brotherhood of Man, especially at Eurovision time to help us celebrate this very special birthday in style. Let's hope we'll be doing this all again in 40 years time."

The Tramway was formed when Lane, then in Eastbourne, decided to secure a tramway future by putting it on his own freehold land. British Railways agreed the sale of the Colyton section and the first passenger services began in August 1970.

To celebrate the 40th birthday of the Tramway at Seaton, and to coincide with Eurovision time, the 1976 Eurovision Song Contest winners, Brotherhood of Man, will be performing live on top of a tram on Saturday 5th June!

At 5pm, BBC newsreader Nick Owen will launch the birthday tram (specially decorated in 70's glam rock style) at Seaton. Brotherhood of Man will perform during the trip to Colyton, with special guests on board.

Once at Fairfield, the concert, held in conjunction with Colyton Christmas Fayries, begins with glam rock band, Diamond Dogz, followed by Brotherhood of Man once more and culminating with the highly respected Queen tribute band, The Bohemians. There will be a bar and food available on site. A return tram will leave at 11pm after a big birthday firework display. Tickets for the concert are: adults, 12.50, and children, up to 16, 7.50.
