Firefighters from three towns called to roof blaze

Firefighters from three towns were called to a blaze at Membury yesterday evening (Thursday August 22).

Appliances from Chard, Colyton and Honiton were scrambled after reports that a roof was alight at the Red Lion House, at around 6.30pm.

Crews found the fire had been confined to an outbuilding, next to the detached dwelling. Villagers had used a hosepipe to put out the blaze before the emergency services arrived.

Crews used a triple extension ladder and thermal imaging camera to investigate further to make sure there were no hotspots.
