BURGLARIES in Seaton have increased by over 100 per cent on last year, according to police figures.Neighbourhood beat manager PC Roy Hutter said during the town council annual meeting that reported crime was down in general by 10 per cent, but burglaries were on the increase. The dramatic rise in burglaries reflects national figures - which is believed to have been fuelled by the economic crisis.He said the vehicle crime was up 44 per cent, and criminal damage by 39 per cent. But that anti-social behaviour - which had been a major issue last year - was down by 14 per cent.He said: "It does show we are doing our job and trying to police Seaton as effectively as we can.
