AN AXMINSTER man who was burgled is offering a reward to anyone who can help police catch the thieves or to get his goods back.

The man, who does not wish to be named, had collectible items worth over £30,000 stolen overnight on Friday, July 10.

He has put up a £1,000 reward to anybody who helps recover most of the goods or identification that leads to prosecution of the offenders.

DC Steve Harrison, of Honiton CID, said: "I have attended the scene of the burglary and spoken with the victim, who is absolutely devastated at losing a collection which has taken many years to acquire.

"Some of these items are rare, highly collectible and obviously of substantial value. The collection comprised mainly of Die-cast toy cars and other vehicles which many people will remember from our childhood days, and also sets of cigarette cards on a variety of themes.

"I believe the offenders knew what they were looking for."

Anyone with any information can call crime stopper on 0800 555 444 quoting crime number KN/09/368.
