Russian-born Maria Barbashina is the latest recipient of Lyme Bay Chorale’s Bursary.

She joined the choir in September, under the scheme which provides five singing lessons a term in exchange for a commitment to attend weekly rehearsal and the choir’s performances.

The Christmas Concert, to be staged at 4pm, on Saturday, December 10, at St Michael’s Church will be her first.

Maria said: “I am a bit nervous, but Lyme Bay Chorale have been so welcoming and supportive that I’m sure it will be most exhilarating”.

When asked what was it she liked about singing with the choir she said: “The music is so wonderful and its marvellous to dig so deeply into composers such as Schubert, Buxtehude and Purcell, I’m actually looking forward to the concert”.

The bursary is open to young singers from 14 - 35. For details, visit: www.lymebaychorale.co.uk
