West Dorset District Council's environmental health team has achieved high levels of overall customer satisfaction among businesses they regulate, according to a recent customer satisfaction study.
The study, carried out over six months, measured the satisfaction of businesses with the way that they are regulated by the council's environmental health team. The service enforces a wide variety of public protection laws - on issues such as health and safety, air pollution, food hygiene, noise nuisance and drainage. Overall satisfaction was measured on two key factors - fairness (95%) and helpfulness (94%).
Even amongst businesses who were not complying with environmental health requirements, results were good. Of this sector, 48% strongly agree that enforcement was fair and a further 41% agree it was fair. An even higher proportion of these businesses agreed that the enforcement service had been helpful.
Environmental Health Team Leader Graham Duggan said: "This is the first time we have surveyed businesses in this structured way.
