If there's anything different, we will make an announcement."Honiton Chamber of Commerce secretary Margaret Lewis said such rumours of a take-over had been circulating in the town for 20 years. She said: "I'll believe it when I see it. It will be interesting to see what happens. If there were a Sainsbury's, I think it would be good for the town."Councillor Roger Boote said he first heard the rumours two weeks ago but did not believe there was much substance to them.He said: "I haven't seen any plans and there have been no applications as far as I know, so there's nothing we can really say. "Somerfield has provided a good service but if they decide to sell out there's nothing we can do about it.
