Busy Bee Pre-school celebrates after revamping its facilities.

Children and staff at a Honiton pre-school are celebrating a double success after revamping its facilities and achieving a “good” Ofsted rating.

Busy Bee Pre-school, which is based at Honiton Primary School, underwent the refurbishment of its premises thanks to the help and support of volunteers and businesses in the town.

The pre-school which has been running for more than 40 years, was joined last week by Paul Richards, of Paul Richards Motors, who donated a new sign to Busy Bee’s, and Richard Blackmore, of Jewsons, who donated materials for the refurbishment.

Teresa Woollacott, play leader, said: “We can’t thank them enough - it makes a huge difference as the place looks a lot bigger and cleaner. It helps with the up keep of the building.”

The refurbishment of both the inside and outside of the building was carried out by Robert and Nichola Venn, who volunteered their services over the summer holidays. Nichola, the former chairman of the pre-school, was instrumental in ensuring the refurbishment went ahead.

Homebase, in Honiton, also donated items to help with the pre-school’s facelift. Teresa added: “All the children love it.”

In September the pre-school also achieved a “good” rating from Ofsted compared to its previous “satisfactory” rating.
