THE trustees of Colyford Memorial Hall are calling on Colyton Parish Council for financial help to maintain the building. The hall, in need of improved toilets and better disabled access, could do with a grant of £3,000 for the next three years, it has been revealed. The council has called on members of the public to express their views. During the annual parish meeting last week, many of those present said they were in favour of supporting the hall.Secretary of Colyford Memorial Hall Howard West said: "The hall is not just used by people in Colyford, but by various clubs and private functions often take place there. "It contributes locally to the whole of the parish."It was also highlighted that the hall is the one, independent community facility available in the area.Others argued the hall had already been vastly improved, and felt the funds could better benefit other areas. Residents, who wish to give their views on funding for the memorial hall, can contact Councillor Caroline Collier via the town hall on (01297) 552460.
