Several collections will be made outside Tesco in Honiton.

Residents in and around Honiton are being asked to spare some time to help collect towards buying new Christmas lights for the town.

Mandy Newman, chamber of commerce member and owner of High Street shop Beauchamp Place, said: “Honiton market manager Tony McCollum and I have agreed some dates with Tesco to collect money in front of the store for Christmas lights. They are Saturday, September 26, Sunday, October 4, and Friday, October 9.”

Mandy is now urging people to volunteer to collect outside the store, on Battishorne Way.

She added: “It would be good to spread the load.

“If anyone can help, please let me know names and any preferred times, so we can arrange some manageable shifts and, hopefully, maximise our fundraising.”

Anyone willing to help can call Mandy on 01404 45692.
