A camper van fire has been tackled by crews this afternoon (Saturday).

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service was called to the blaze at around 12.45pm when a camper van was well alight on the A35 in Wilmington.

Crews from Axminster, Colyton and Ottery St Mary attended the incident and used breathing apparatus, four hose reel jets and small tools to extinguish the blaze.

Gas cylinders were also removed from the van and inspected using a thermal imaging camera.

The fire caused 100 per cent damage to the camper van and is believed to have started accidentally.
