A PROFESSIONAL artist, who survived cancer, is to donate the proceeds of an art exhibition to cancer charity FORCE.
Robert Jennison, 76, of Gittisham, says without FORCE he would have found treatment for bowel cancer intolerable.
He benefited from the work of a FORCE research assistant, who helped to pioneer a new way to deliver chemotherapy, using a pump attached to the body.
That was in 1993 and, 17 years later, Mr Jennison is preparing to launch a new exhibition of his oil paintings to raise money for the charity.
A five feet wide painting, donated to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, will be on display at the event, which will run from February 6 to March 28 at The Art Room, Topsham.
Mr Jennison studied at the West of England College of Art in the 1950s, before teaching in Bristol and then at St Luke's College, Exeter.
He gave up teaching in 1984 to become a professional artist, after first starting to paint seriously in 1961.
Since then, he has enjoyed solo exhibition success in London, Milan, Belfast, Bristol and Exeter.
His work is mainly of landscapes, most predominantly of Dartmoor and Devon.
