CANON Jane Hedges, the former Rector of Honiton, is being tipped to become the first woman bishop.According to a report in The Times, senior politicians are in favour of breaking up the all-male enclave of the 26 bishops in the House of Lords.Canon Jane, 53, who left Honiton to take up a post at Westminster Abbey, is widely expected to be consecrated as a bishop in 2012 - the 20th anniversary of the vote to ordain women priests."After services people will come up to me and say how wonderful it is to see a woman taking part," she said.Visit our website to comment.
