Firefighters were called to a four-vehicle accident last night (Saturday).

Crews from Axminster, Seaton and Colyton were called by the ambulance service to the A35 at Taunton Cross, in Shute, at 7.21pm.

Upon arrival, the crew found a four-vehicle car accident.

The passengers of three of the vehicles were already free and clear of the scene but two people were trapped in the fourth car.

Firefighters used a hydraulic rescue equipment and small tools to release the casualties, who were then looked after by paramedics who were at the scene.

After securing the scene, it was left with the police.
