Car collision at Yarcombe

Man and woman cut free from vehicle.

An elderly man and woman had to be cut free from a car by firefighters following a single vehicle road traffic collision near Yarcombe.

The incident, involving a black Fiat Punto, took place on Monday, on the A30, A303 split towards Yarcombe, at 3.57pm.

A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said the injuries were not believed to be life- threatening.

It was reported that one of the car’s occupants suffered facial injuries and the other experienced neck and back pain.

Three fire appliances were called to the scene and an extra appliance with hydraulic cutting equipment was requested from Sidmouth.

A rescue tender from Middlemoor was also in attendance.

A spokesman for the South West Ambulance Service said both occupants suffered neck pain and were conveyed by ambulance to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.
