Honiton is gearing up for one of its biggest – and most colourful – events of the year.

The sights and sounds of its annual carnival procession lands in the town next month.

Several colourful floats will parade down High Street from 7.30pm on October 28.

Carnival royals Oriana Burford and Georgia Clifford-Davies were crowned in September.

In the week leading up to the procession, a quiz night will be held at The Beehive on Sunday, October 22, from 7pm.

This will be followed by a meat bingo at the Mackarness Hall on Wednesday, October 25. Doors open at 7pm and eyes down 8pm.

The main event will then land in Honiton, splashing the town’s high street with music, colour and fun.

Helen Turner, who is on Honiton’s carnival committee, said: “People should attend the carnival – it is a brilliant night with lots of colour, music and happy faces.

“All carnival entries take a lot of time, money, work and passion to entertain the crowds. A lot of entries are local people supporting Honiton and we are fortunate to welcome floats from outside the town as well.

“Please show your support by putting your loose change into one of the collecting buckets to help next year’s procession go ahead.”
