CHEQUES totalling £600 were distributed to local good causes during Honiton and District Carnival's annual meeting.

CHEQUES totalling £600 were distributed to local good causes during Honiton and District Carnival's annual meeting.Receiving £150 each were representatives from Devon Air Ambulance Trust, Children's Hospice South West, Headway Devon and Honiton Community College Parent, Student and Friends' Association.Bill Austin was re-elected chairman for a third consecutive term during the meeting, held at Honiton Motel. Mr Austin's wife, Maria, will continue as treasurer. Karen Wilson remains carnival secretary and former committee member Mike Tucker becomes a director.Mr Austin told the Herald: "It's been another good year for the committee."We are looking forward to this year's carnival and were pleased to be able to give away £150 each to four charities.
