Firefighters find two vehicles well alight in the car park at Tesco and four others are damaged by heat and smoke

Two cars were destroyed in a blaze at Tesco car park in Axminster today (Tuesday, December 24) – and four others were damaged by smoke and heat.

The local fire crew arrived at around 11am to find the vehicles – an Audi and a Vauxhall – well alight.

It is thought an electrical fault in one of the cars may have sparked the fire which spread to the second vehicle parked alongside. .A further four vehicles in the vicinity were damaged by heat and smoke.

Two hose reels, two breathing apparatus and small tools were used to extinguish the fire

An area of the busy supermarket car park was cordoned off while the cars were made safe.
