The annual ‘beekeeping for beginners’ course is set to take off on Saturday, January 30.

Run by East Devon Beekeepers there will be indoor sessions from January to April and outdoor sessions over the summer at the club’s apiary, near Axminster,

The course covers all aspects of beekeeping from biology to hive products, such as honey or beeswax, and is designed to appeal to both those who want to gain hands-on skills in honey bee management as well as cooks, woodworkers, naturalists, gardeners and all those who would like to learn how to support these important pollinators.

Beginners will gain confidence in handling and looking after honey bees, and may then decide to go on to keep their own.

Further details can be obtained from Richard Simpson, East Devon Beekeepers, on 07900 492242 or at chairman@edbk.co.uk
