Train commuters to and from Axminster could be facing delays up to 6pm this evening after cattle wandered onto railway lines.

The livestock wandered onto the tracks, between Axminster and Yeovil Junction, earlier today, forcing the lines to stop operating.

National Rail has now confirmed the cows have been removed from the lines, and they have now re-opened under a speed restriction.

A spokesman for the British Transport Police added: “Train services may be cancelled, delayed or revised.

“Disruption is expected until 6pm.”
