CRIMINALS will find it tougher to run and hide with a new district-linked CCTV system.
CRIMINALS will find it tougher to run and hide with a new district-linked CCTV system.Exmouth's camera network earned a £40,000 upgrade to link sky-spies across East Devon, helping track faces and incidents from town to town. Grants have also been approved for new Honiton cameras, plus radios for the town's Pubwatch scheme, plus equipment for the Sidmouth version.Community safety and anti-social behaviour co-ordinator Gerry Moore secured Safer Devon Partnership funding for all three schemes; £15,000 for Exmouth CCTV, £4,000 for Honiton cameras and £1,560 for Pubwatch radios.The funding has been matched by local authorities, East Devon District Council leading the way with £20,000 for CCTV links - with Exmouth Town Council and police adding £2,500 each.Honiton Town Council dug deep for a further £2,000 toward new cameras.
