Police called after reports of shoplifters targeting local stores.
Police were called to Lyme Regis town centre yesterday (Wednesday, April 26) after reports that two thieves had stolen chamnpagne from the Co-op and were taregting other shops.
One male was apprehended in Broad Street by a member of the public who was able to keep hold of him until officers arrived and took him into custody.
When searched, the 30-year-old, from Croydon, was found to have £350 of items from Boots located in his rucksack, along with a bottle of champagne. The man admitted two counts of shoplifting and was given a caution.
