Parish Freedom awarded to former Chardstock councillor

A former Chardstock village councillor has been awarded the Freedom of the Parish.
The honorary title was bestowed upon Michael Dadds in recognition of 'his eminent service to both the council and the wider parish community'.
Mr Dadds stepped down as a councillor in May this year, but continues to be a stalwart supporter of local organisations and good causes.
The certificate was presented to him by parish council chairman Caroline Wilson at a ceremony last week.
Clerk to the council Paul Hayward said: "Michael represented the council for 12 years and his wit and wisdom are greatly missed.
"We hope that this small token of our gratitude goes some way to recognising all of the time and effort he expended in the service of his fellow parishioners and, whilst the title is only an honorary one, it is only bestowed in exceptional circumstances to formally acknowledge service given above and beyond that normally expected of a public official."
Gina Youens was thanked for the certificate calligraphy and Yapp and White Gallery for its framing.
