A pay machine for the Beehive car park in Honiton still needs to ordered - then councillors can decide whether to start charging straight away.

A report penned by town clerk Mark Tredwin says East Devon District Council is putting together a Head Lease and Service Level Agreement for the management and leasing of the car park. He added: “This is currently with their in-house solicitor and should be ready in a few weeks.

“The draft Parking Order has been made available to them to draw up and submit on behalf of the council.

“This will take around 12 weeks to put in place.”

EDDC is also arranging to purchase a pay machine, which it will provide along with any signage and notices that are required.

Mr Tredwin said once the pay machine is installed, the town council can introduce charges ‘straight away’.

Penalty Notice Charges can only be issued once the Parking Order is in place.
