TRUSTEES of a charity in Honiton have distributed a total of 10,220 to 41 applicants.

The money was allocated during the 21st annual meeting of The Mullins Trust.

Applications had been received from 51 individuals and organisations.

Local sports clubs benefited to the tune of 3,970, while youth groups received 2,000.

In a statement, the trustees said the amount distributed was less than in previous years - because of the present financial climate. They said they were aware that it would impact upon applicants at a time when raising funds is becoming more difficult.

"The trustees do intend to continue distributing the funds on an annual basis, although applications, if of sufficient merit, may be considered at any time," the statement pointed out.
