Charity garden opening raised £1,4000 for MST

An open garden event at Smallridge, Axminster, has raised more than £1,400 for charity.
The afternoon – raising funds for the Multiple System Atrophy Trust (MST) – was declared a “great success” by the organisers.
Gardening broadcaster and journalist Anne Swithinbank opened the event at Socks Orchard, and she and her husband John spent the afternoon answering gardening questions.
Meanwhile Dave Wicken and Steve Holt serenaded the crowd with garden-related songs.

There were also four vintage cars, garden sculpture by Millin Metalcraft, a plant stall, bees, artwork, a raffle and ‘scrumptious’ cream teas.
“Thanks to all the people who came to our open garden for the MSA Trust,” said organisers Hilary and Michael Pritchard.

“We raised £1,408. The afternoon was a great success, made possible by all the kind people who, without being asked, stepped forward with offers of help and worked tirelessly.”
The Multiple System Atrophy Trust supports those who have a rare neurological disease with no known cure.
As a small charity receiving no government support, the MSA Trust relies entirely on charitable donations to continue its work.
“The money raised at this event will really make a difference, so our heartfelt thanks to all the people who worked so hard to make it such a success, and to those who came and/or donated.”
