We used to visit Beer for lunch and a stroll once a week during the period from October to April when the parking was free. Now we visit maybe twice a year.

We tend to shop in Chard as the parking is much cheaper than Axminster and, if using Sainsbury's, they refund that cost.
It is the traders who will suffer when the fees go up again. They might say it will be easier to pay 1 rather than 85p, but it would be easier still if there was no charge! I remember that Axminster Town Council put up barriers to stop members of the public parking outside the Guildhall in what they regard as their private, free car park.
Our council employees and councillors are no longer working for us, but looking after themselves!
